Bridges Bridge structures provide a critical link between our communities and serve an important role in the global economy. It has been well documented that a significant portion of our bridges are in need of rehabilitation and replacement. All aspects of the bridges from the sub-structure to the deck to the super structure can be restored to near its original condition and strengthened to carry the additional loads of today's larger vehicles. Repair methods used on bridges include:
Deicing salts are used extensively to keep our bridges safe in the winter, but penetrate the concrete and corrode the reinforcing steel. To extend the life of the structure the corrosion can be addressed and mitigated using a variety of corrosion mitigation strategies from localized galvanic protection to electrochemical chloride extraction to full cathodic protection systems.
