STRUCTURAL STRENGTHENING
|
Structural strengthening is an integral part of today's concrete repair industry. Structural strengthening may be required for increasing load capacity of beams, columns, walls, and/or slabs, seismic retrofitting, supporting additional live or dead loads not included in original design, to relieve stresses generated by design or construction errors, or to restore original load capacity to damaged structural elements. Vector is a recognized leader in the research and development of the structural strengthening technology. Our engineers are actively involved in the standardization of this technology through associations such as ACI, ICRI, and ISIS Canada. Over the years Vector has initiated, supported and completed numerous research and test projects, together with research staff from various Universities, that has lead to the current universally accepted design guidelines and building and bridge codes. Along with the more conventional strengthening system where additional reinforcing steel is added to the structural element by increasing its concrete cross section, Vector's primary and most recent involvement is in the following less conventional strengthening systems:
